Training Update

If you haven't been here in a while, you might not know that I've been training for the NYC Marathon. I am now 6 weeks away from race day!! Read on for an update on my training...
Last Saturday, Jed and I tackled a 13.6 mile training run and we decided to turn it into a little adventure.

We had to rent a car to drive down to Philadelphia for a wedding reception, so we opted to save some money by renting a car in New Jersey (1/3 the price of renting one in NYC). That meant we had to get ourselves from Manhattan to NJ.

No problem! We would just run to the rental agency!

We mapped out our course beforehand - it took us from our apartment, down the Hudson River, up through the Cloisters, then across the George Washington Bridge and on to Englewood, New Jersey.

Here's Jed halfway through our run across the GW Bridge

The marathon course will take me through all 5 of NYC's boroughs (Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx & Manhattan - all connected by bridges). So the GW Bridge gave me some great practice this weekend.

The view of the Hudson River & Manhattan from the GW Bridge is pretty breathtaking. Of course this photo doesn't do it justice. We enjoyed running in new territory & were happy to have a shorter distance to cover on this run. And with just a couple wrong turns, our little plan worked out pretty swimmingly. We made it safe & sound (not to mention sweaty & smelly) to the rental car agency.

(Don't worry, we drove back to Manhattan & showered before the reception)

To gear up for next week's long run, I'm watching this video for inspiration...
