My 20 mile training run on Saturday went incredibly well!
The weather was amazing, my powerade/water bottle belt worked perfectly, and I felt energized and comfortable the entire time
(comfortable being an entirely relative term, of course).
Thanks to everyone who crossed their fingers, sent good vibes, and prayed that it would be a good one...it worked!
The run took Jed and me 3 hours and 1 minute.
About what I was expecting my pace to be.
On race day, I will just focus on completing the whole 26.2 miles injury-free.
If that happens in under 4 hours, I will be thrilled!
While my training could not be going better, my fundraising certainly has room for improvement. Asking for donations is not my favorite thing in the world, and yet somehow I find myself doing it pretty regularly. I still have about $2,000 to go and maybe that's because I'm always hitting up the same crowd for donations.
I'm sorry!
If you've contributed to my marathon or to any of my causes in the past (Romanian street children, breast cancer research, heart disease research), I want to extend a whole-hearted, deeply sincere, grateful THANK YOU!
If you wish you could give but are just not in the position to do so, please don't feel bad!
Many people have offered words of encouragement & support and that has motivated me as much as (if not more than) financial contributions do.
If you ARE in the position to do so, and if you would like to make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers living in poverty, and if you want to support me in my crazy marathon undertaking, now is the time to donate!
If 100 people donate $20, I will meet my goal and be cleared to put my months of training to good use!!!! I definitely know 100 people with $20 who haven't gotten around to donating yet.
Could that be you??
Oh man, asking this of you is hard. But I must remind myself, I'm not asking for ME, I'm asking on behalf of the 15,000 children who will sleep in NYC shelters tonight.
FIFTEEN THOUSAND kids in New York City will be sleeping in a shelter tonight.
Do you know a child?
Can you imagine having to sing that child to sleep in an inner-city shelter?
I can't.
This is exactly why I am running.
See what I am talking about here:
If you want to help shelter a child
Any amount can make a difference. And I mean ANY.
THANK YOU!!
