My 2nd 20-Miler

Last Saturday was my 2nd 20-mile training run and it was another great one for me!

I shaved 5 mins off my overall time & felt pretty strong throughout the whole thing.

Jed & I paused for a photo at one of my favorite spots in Central Park

Unfortunately, this run was not as great of an experience for Jed. At about 9.5 miles his knee, which has been bothering him a bit, caused enough pain that he had to stop. He was pretty bummed to have to quit and let me go on without him.

I gave him his metro card along with some Sports Jelly Bellies and kissed him good bye. He limped to the nearest bus stop and spent the rest of the day elevating & icing his knee.

After parting ways with Jed, I had 10.5 miles to run on my own. Finishing the 2nd half of a 20 mile run with no one to talk to and no music can be a little psychologically challenging.

Fortunately, I had a nice breeze and this pretty view of the Hudson River to enjoy.
Running along this river trail, sometimes it's easy to forget that you're in NYC. I love it!

Also along my scenic running route is a historical WWII aircraft carrier (now museum) called the Intrepid.
I paused for a quick sec to snap a photo.

After taking it easy on his knee over the weekend, I am happy to report that Jed was able to complete a 6 mile training run with me this morning without further incident. Fortunately, from here on out, we will be tapering down our distances until race day.

Jed, I'm sorry to hear about your knee- what a bummer... (I feel your pain...!!) But glad it's feeling better.

Good job guys. I'm happy you are doing better Jed. I was worried there for a minute. I loved the pictures, beautiful scenery and WWII carrier.
